Question by : Will the Canon Rebel T2i take infrared photographs?
I saw a BEAUTIFUL gallery of infrared photographs on deviantART, and I was just wondering if the camera I’m getting soon would support that. It’s the Canon Rebel T2i.
Thanks so much!
Okay, so there’s no way I’m converting my camera just to take IR shots, and I can’t do it myself, either
So, if I were to use an external filter, would I be able to adjust it in Photoshop and make it look very very similar to a “true” IR?

The short answer is no. Virtually all digital cameras have an IR filter to block infrared light. Because digital sensors can be sensitive to this kind of light, along with UV light, it can cause color casts and other funny problems.
If you want to take true IR photos, you’ll need to have your camera sent to a specialty shop that will remove your IR filter. But once you do that, the camera will no longer work the same way when trying to take normal photos.
Lots of photographers just shoot RAW, and then use software that mimics IR photography.
